Today, the Institute organises debate around six principle thematic axes to draw out the complexity of the processes of governance but equally the diversity of available analyses on the topic. This structure is notably the result of collaborative work realised throughout 2005 by an international group of ten researchers, brought together by the Charles Leopold Mayer Foundation for their expertise in the concepts and processes of governance as well as their experience of the practice of thematic structuring.
